In 1986 Berkshire AHEC created what is now known as the Northern Berkshire Community Coalition located in North Adams, Massachusetts. www.nbccoalition.org

In 1992 Berkshire AHEC co-lead the Berkshire County Tobacco Control Coalition, coordinating tobacco cessation, awareness and prevention education.

In 1995 Berkshire AHEC began what is now known as Community Partners located in Amherst, Massachusetts. www.compartners.org

Since 1996 Berkshire AHEC has been the home of the Berkshire Coalition to Prevent Teen Pregnancy. Until 2008, we have promoted and funded evidence-based prevention services in community-based organizations and schools. Workshops and public forums are routinely provided to keep the community and professionals informed on local strategies. Each year hundreds of “teen help cards” are distributed.

In 1996 Berkshire AHEC created the Berkshire Prevention Alliance to prevent drug and alcohol abuse.

From FY 06-FY 09 Berkshire AHEC operated the Youth Access to Tobacco Prevention Project conducting compliance checks, tobacco retailer education, community education and other activities designed to reduce the illegal sale of tobacco products to minors and prevent initiation of tobacco use among youth.

Between     and 2010 Berkshire AHEC facilitated the Berkshire HIV/AIDS Service Coordination Collaborative (SCC). Consumers and providers of service gathered six times a year to address gaps in service and barriers to care for people living with HIV or AIDS.
