The Essentials of Pharmacology
ONLINE Version Fall 2018

September 8, 15 & 22, 2018 An introduction to the study of drugs. This course covers how various medications interact with human bodily functions in the treatment or prevention of illness.  The online version of the Essentials of Pharmacology incorporates 2 hr and 15 min of classroom lecture per week.  The expectations of online version is that the student MUST log on to Zoom meeting and complete the scheduled on line assignment/quizzes but also attend lecture once a week.

COURSE DESCRIPTION: The Essentials of Pharmacology is a introduction to the study of drugs. This course covers how various medications interact with human bodily functions in the treatment or prevention of illness.  The purpose of this training is to provide an extensive framework of knowledge that can be acquired within a limited time frame. This workshop is appropriate for those who will be interpreting in an encounter where medications will be administered. Those employed in health care professions now have increased responsibilities for providing the necessary information to patients regarding the safe administration of medications, side effects and interactions. Continuing education is essential in the medical interpreter field and it is imperative to understand what information is being conveyed.

Regular Fee: $ 60.00 CEU Fee: $45.00 (includes certificate of completion: 6.00 CCHI or 0.6 IMIA)
Prerequisite: Previous training in Medical Interpreting, minimum 40 hours
