Why Mental Health First Aid?

Mental Health First Aid teaches you how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illness and substance use disorders. This training gives you the skills you need to reach out and provide initial support to someone who may be developing a mental health or substance use problem and help connect them to the appropriate care.

Participants must complete the 2‑hour Mental Health First Aid Introduction between 1‑14 January 2021 to next participate in the Instructor‑Led Skills Application training on 16 January 2021.

• Common signs and symptoms of mental illness • Common signs and symptoms of substance use • How to interact with a person in crisis • How to connect the person with help • NEW: Expanded content on trauma, addiction and self-care

Social Worker – Application for social work continuing education credits has been submitted. Please contact us at 413-842-5160 for the status of social work CE accreditation.

Emergency Medical Technician – Application for EMT continuing education credits has been submitted. Please contact us at 413-842-5160 for the status of EMT CE accreditation.

Psychology – Application for psychology continuing education credits has been submitted. Please contact us at 413-842-5160 for the status of psychology CE accreditation.

Substance Abuse Counselor – Application for MA LADC continuing education credits has been submitted. Please contact us at 413-842-5160 for the status of LADC CE accreditation.

Nursing – Program meets the requirements for nursing contact hours as specified by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing 244 CMR 5.04

Nursing Home Administrator – Berkshire AHEC is recognized as an approved provider by the Massachusetts Board of Registration of Nursing Home Administrators to offer continuing education credits for nursing home administrators. Provider NH-09015-002.
